The 4th Annual Heartland States Basketball Championship is a qualifier-based tournament with two divisions (Club and School) and features top competition from North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Iowa.
The 2023 Championship featured teams from throughout the region offering fresh competition for all squads. Players hailed from 196 zip codes 164 different towns across five states. Check out the map above with all of the hometowns represented at States!

All team rosters are verified by the State Eligibility Committee prior to tournament play. (Last season, we reviewed 15,730 Proof of Eligibility documents!)
Teams earn their spot at State by placing 1st or 2nd in an official Qualifier Tournament or League.

Regional Reps serve as local connections between Qualifier Tournaments and States. You'll spot our orange-clad Reps at Qualifier Events throughout the season, awarding top teams with their Gold Ticket invitation to States and answering questions from parents and coaches.
