2020-21 Great Lakes States Tourney Reps

Great Lakes States Reps attend official Qualifier tournaments to award Golden Ticket invites to the top two finishing teams at each grade and to answer any questions from coaches and families.  Please say "hello" when you see them!

Indiana Reps

Mariah Flynn
Hailing from Kodak, Tennessee, Mariah was a standout basketball player who was recruited by a variety of schools across all levels of competition. After graduating from Seymour High School, she joined the Women’s Basketball team at Earlham College in Richmond, IN, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Social Relations. Currently, Mariah is an ABA Therapist working with children diagnosed with autism. Outside of work, she enjoys drawing,  reading science fiction, listening to music, and attending concerts and festivals. Mariah is excited to share her love for basketball as a member of the team at State Basketball Championship.

Sara Rotherham
Sara was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois, but is currently getting her Master's in Athletic Administration at Indiana University. She previously graduated from IU in May 2020 with a Bachelor's in Sport Marketing and Management. While she has not played basketball herself since grade school, she kept herself involved with the sport by working in marketing for IU's basketball team the past two years. To keep herself busy outside of her schoolwork, she works as a brand associate at Old Navy, as well as spending her free time going on hikes with her dog and exploring Bloomington with friends. 

Matthew Spindler
Matthew has lived and grown-up on the Southside of the Indianapolis area. He graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. He has been athletically involved his whole life, especially with basketball. Basketball is his passion. He first picked up a basketball at the age of 3 and has played and admired the sport ever since playing for his school team, AAU, and his Fraternity Intramurals. Matthew is a die-hard Indiana Pacers fan and attends games on a regular basis. In his free time (pre-covid), you can find Matthew watching/playing sports, traveling, going to concerts, and just being around friends and family. He has multiple nieces and nephews that are involved in sports, specifically his two nephews who currently play basketball who he loves coaching and cheering on. Matthew is excited and eager to work with the State Basketball Championship and is ready to make an impact!

Andrew Steiner
Basketball has been a part of Andrew’s life. He discovered his love for the game a soon as he was old enough to hold the ball and continued to play through his senior year of high school. He majored in Sports Management & Business Management at Wood Memorial and worked for the Oakland City Parks & Rec Department as Referee for youth basketball and other sports. Andrew works as a high school basketball referee and volunteer head coach for the Evansville Special Olympic team, while pursuing the ultimate goal of officiating for college basketball. In his spare time, Andrew enjoys fishing and spending time with his new wife and son.

Michigan Reps

Xavier Sanders
Xavier grew up in Saginaw MI, where he attended and played basketball at Saginaw Heritage High School. He continued his basketball career on scholarship Hesston College in South Central Kansas. Xavier’s love for sports brought him back to Michigan where he attended Central Michigan University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management and a Master's Degree in Sports Administration. Following graduation, he worked with the Detroit Pistons, Global basketball Inc., served as a youth head basketball coach, and spent time as a basketball scout. Xavier currently resides in Midland MI, where he works for the Michigan Department of Corrections parole unit. He lives happily with his wife, Shonda Sanders, and their dog, King.

Jacob Sall
Jacob is originally from Oswego, Illinois but currently lives in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He graduated from Eureka College in 2019 where he earned a BS in Business Administration and Sports Management. He played for Oswego High School all four years and played his freshman year at Eureka College on the men’s basketball team before switching over to coaching. He spent his final two years in college on the sidelines, where the team saw back-to-back conference tournament appearances, and its first ever NCAA Division III Tournament appearance. He is currently a Marketing Consultant but wants to stay around the game he grew up loving. In his free time, he loves to hang out with his fiancé, dog and cat, watch basketball, play video games with his friends and visit his family in Illinois. 

Jessica Schultz
Jessica was born in Mineral Point , WI, where she led Mineral Point High School to its first state title in 2016. She then became a starting center for Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI for four consecutive years. She was an all conference offensive and defensive player and was named Female Athlete of the Year at Northern Michigan University her senior year. She is pursuing a career in Veterinary Technology and has aspirations to either continue playing basketball at the next level or coaching youth and/or high school girls basketball. Jessica loves animals and you can find her reading or catching the sunrise and sunset in her free time!

Ohio Reps

Tanner German
Tanner grew up in Crooksville, Ohio and was a four-sport athlete (basketball, football, baseball and track). He continued his basketball career at Otterbein University, where he earned his degree in athletic training. Currently, he is working towards at Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Ohio University. Outside of school, Tanner is the Assistant Coach of the Varsity Basketball Team at Crooksville High School. He looks forward to sharing his love for basketball as a Rep for State Basketball Championship.

Kameron Johnson 
Kameron was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH. He was a two-sport athlete in both Basketball and Track and Field at Walnut Hills High School, and played AAU basketball for 6 years with the Cincinnati Lakers youth basketball organization. Kameron is currently a Junior at the University of Cincinnati studying Sport Administration. Outside of school, he works as a Recreation Program Leader with the Cincinnati Recreation Commission, and was previously a Marketing Intern for UC Athletics.  To this day, Kameron still has the same love and passion for basketball as he did during his youth. Kameron’s favorite basketball team is the Portland Trail Blazers, and he names Damian Lillard as his favorite player.

Justin Lee
Justin lives outside of Cleveland, OH. He graduated from the University of Akron with a BS in Organizational Supervision and Sports Management. Justin is a sports enthusiast and has worked for the Cleveland Browns, The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, and The Columbus Crew. He currently works for AT&T and Cleveland State University.  

Sam Stolly
Sam attended Lima Central Catholic High School,  where his basketball team won the first state championship in the history of Lima. He earned his Bachelor's degree at the University of Dayton, and obtained his Master's at Purdue-Fort Wayne, where he also coached for two years as a Graduate Assistant. Sam currently works as an advertising sales rep for Cox Media Group at WHIO Channel 7 in Dayton. He is a newly-wed with a dog who was featured on Good Morning America for reacting to The Lion King when Simba was looking for Mufasa. In his spare time, Sam loves watching sports, and recently got back into the hobby of sports card collecting.

Chaim Tillinghast
Chaim was born and raised in Cincinnati, and is currently a senior at the University of Cincinnati majoring in Sports Administration.  He has worked with the women’s final four along with various local YMCA youth sports. Chaim was a basketball fanatic and player through high school, and is an avid shoe collector.

Josiah Wade
Born and raised in northwest Ohio, Josiah started playing basketball at his local YMCA at the age of 8 and hasn’t stopped since.  Upon graduating high school in 1996, Josiah enrolled at Capital University to continue his basketball career.  2 years later he transferred to Otterbein College and in 2000 graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting Communications. He was then hired as an audio/video producer with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources where he has maintained full-time employment for the past 20 years.  For over 20 years, Josiah has enjoyed volunteering as a basketball and football coach for a variety of youth organizations.  Josiah has had the privilege of coaching all four of his children in basketball and continues to enjoy watching them compete in multiple sports at the high school level.  When he’s not working, coaching, or attending one of his children’s games, Josiah enjoys nature and landscape photography, singing, and drone piloting.  Josiah currently resides near Dublin, Ohio with his wife Kimberly.

Raymond Yates 
Ray lives in Akron and is the Boy's Varsity Assistant Basketball Coach at Akron North High School.  He ran track and played basketball at Firestone High School and currently shares his love for sports and knowledge with local youth sports programs.  In December 2018, Ray received his Bachelor's in Sports Administration from the University of Akron.
